Privacy Policy

The short version

BuyWise runs on your device. Your shopping history, price alerts, and preferences are stored locally in your browser. We don't have an account system yet, so we don't collect a name, email address, or password.

What we store on your device

  • Every product you've analyzed (name, brand, category, price).
  • The verdict and score BuyWise gave that product.
  • Price alerts you've created.
  • Anonymous counts we use to compute your averages and top categories.

This information lives in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove it.

What we send to third-party services

  • Retailer catalogs (SerpAPI / Google Shopping): when you search or analyze a product, we send the product name or identifier to look up prices and retailer listings.
  • AI enrichment (Lovable AI Gateway): we send the product name, brand, category, and current price so the model can refine the score, verdict, and price advice. We do not send anything that identifies you.
  • Outbound retailer clicks: when you tap a Buy button, we open the retailer's website. We add a ref=buywise tag so we can measure whether BuyWise helped you. See the affiliate disclosure at the bottom of every product page.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not track you across other websites.
  • We do not upload your browsing history, camera roll, or clipboard content. Screenshot and paste-link flows only see the file or URL you explicitly hand to BuyWise.

Cookies and analytics

BuyWise doesn't set marketing or advertising cookies. We use the minimum storage required to keep you signed in on your device (none today) and to remember your preferences.

Your choices

  • You can export your data as JSON from the Profile screen.
  • You can clear your history from the History screen and your price alerts from the Alerts screen.
  • Clearing your browser storage for this site erases everything BuyWise remembers about you.
